Research Interests

Bálint Hilbert, PhD is a junior research fellow at the Centre for Social Sciences, Budapest. He earned his PhD at Eötvös Loránd University in 2023. The topic of his PhD dissertation was the examination of the urban governance systems of the Austro–Hungarian Monarchy. His scientific works focus on two main topics: urban governance, urban planning and urban policies, and on the other hand, the historical-geographical research of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, particularly the comparative analysis of Vienna and Budapest from different perspectives. The combination of these two topics resulted in a successful scientific work and presentation at the National Scientific Students' Associations Conference and a PhD dissertation. His scientific research was supported by several scholarships: the scholarship of the New National Excellence Programme for doctoral students, and the Collegium Hungaricum scholarship which gave him the opportunity to research in Vienna. His main publications are related to the mentioned topics, but he also published a paper for example on the history of geography.
